April 26, 2023The Acropolis Museum participates again this year in the spring Athens City Festival with two gastronomy and music events on Thursday 4 May and Monday 22 May 2023, in collaboration with the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens.
Let's try this: "Experience a tasting of Ancient Greek cuisine and wines."
Could you provide information on the ancient Athenians' diet and their relationship to wine? Specifically, how did they consume wine and what type of food did they typically pair it with? CWhich products were considered locally sourced and which ones were imported? Are you interested in learning the significance of these products in the religious practices of the city? These and many other questions are answered by the Museum's archaeologists in a different kind of tour of its collections. A unique experience that ends in the restaurant with a meal prepared especially for the occasion, with dishes inspired by thousands of years of history, accompanied by a wine tasting with the support of the Gerovassiliou Estate.
Day & Time: Thursday 4 May 2023, tour of ancient diet (7pm-8pm), restaurant tasting (8pm-10pm)
